I've been using PE7 for a couple weeks now, so far looks the same as PE6, haven't really seen any differences between them but I'm just a casual user of the product.

I've noticed a couple times now that occasionally while using PE7 that the mouse icon will seem to get stuck on the Hand Tool though the app doesn't crash I can click on any other tool icon on the left side toolbar but yet it doesn't change it, so I seem to be permanently stuck using the Hand Tool.

The only ways so far I've been able to get around this are:

1. Minimise PE7 for about 5mins the tool then seems to reset somehow.
2. Re-boot but this is absolutely the last thing I think anyone wants to do.

So far there are no updates from Adobe, but I've raised this case with them for investigation.

Not sure if anyone has seen a similar thing either?

I'm on Vista Ultimate with an ATI Radeon 4870 and AMD Phenom system.

I have not seen this issue yet, I am running Windows XP. I wish I had a vista machine to test the software on to help you out. I hope someone else may have an answer her and if you hear from Adobe please drop a post here.

I'm new to this and Photoshop so please excuse any problems. Have also been using PSE7 for a few months on Vista but have not had any problems like that; if I do will let you know. Might need some help later with Photoshop and various editing technique for now just trying to get used to it !

I've recently updated to version 7, I'm running XP with plenty of memory and processing speed. Having the same problem with the "hand tool",
rather annoying. Also I've noticed as "blacklabel" mentioned, after about 5 minutes the software seems to correct its self.

I've had that problem too and to get around it, I go to the upper left corner of Full Edit, just under the little camera icon.

There you'll see a tiny downward facing arrowhead. Click the arrowhead and you'll get two options: Reset Tool and Reset All Tools.

I usually choose the latter and I'm back in business. I hope this helps.

By the way, if resetting the Tools from the Editor as in my previous post does not work, try the following:


Quit the Editor, then restart it while holding down ctrl+alt+shift.

Keep holding the keys till you see a window asking if you want to delete the settings file.

Click Yes to that.

(PSE will automatically rebuild the settings file as it continues to open and normal Tool control should be restored.)
