How do you know the 'ctrl + letter' commands?

How do you know the 'ctrl + letter' commands?

By the way, I very much appreciate your videos. They are immensely useful to get me started in Elements 6.

In your videos, you occasionally say something like "hit control i" or "control t". These commands do various things, according to what you are currently working with. For example, in your video "Using multiple adjustment layers" you instruct us to "hit ctrl i" which changes our new levels layer from white to black. My question is this....how do you know to use such commands as this? How do I know when the ctrl key works and what it will do? In Microsoft products, these short-cut strokes are listed right next to the command when you click on any of the menus (like ctrl + v is paste from the Edit menu). But how do I find this information in Elements? :?:

Thanks in advance,
Robin :?:
